We'll also need at least 2 full days before the run and 1 day after for setting up/packing away. Here is a proposed schedule: Jan 24 - Setup team arrive on La Silla. Start unpacking Jan 25 - Set up in the lab, check everything is ok Jan 26 - Contingency Jan 27-28 - Technical time - not sure if we have both nights or only one assigned to us. Move ULTRASPEC onto telescope and align with EFOSC2. Jan 29-30 - First science run - Kieran's echo-tomography run Jan 31-Feb 3 - Vik's pulsar run Feb 4-8 - Tom's WD rotation rates run Feb 9-10 - Chris Watson's spectral eclipse mapping run Feb 11-12 - Stu's DNO run Feb 13 - Sleep, then start packing Feb 14 - Complete packing and leave La Silla As far as personnel are concerned, there is myself, Stu, Paul, Chris Watson, Chris Copperwheat and Richard Hickman. Derek Ives from the UKATC will also hopefully be coming out at the start of the run. Tom won't be able to make this run (is this still the case, Tom?) I'm not sure about Kieran - do you expect to come out for the run, Kieran? (Do you know if Teo intends to come instead/as well)? Here is one way in which we can man this run: Setup team: Vik, Paul Kerry and Derek Ives Arrive: Jan 24 Paul and Derek depart: Jan 30 (nights on La Silla = 6) Vik departs: Feb 4 (nights on La Silla = 11) Mid-run team: Chris Copperwheat and Richard Hickman Arrive: Feb 1 Depart: Feb 10 Nights on La Silla = 9 Packing up team: Stu Littlefair and Chris Watson Arive: Feb 7 Depart: Feb 14 Nights on La Silla = 7 This way, we always have at least 2 observers present, there is always at least 2 full days of handover time between the groups, and each person is present for the observations on their own programmes (assuming we stick to the ESO schedule). Packing up is pretty straightforward, so I don't think it will matter too much that Stu/Chris have not seen this done before at La Silla. Please let me know what you think of the above. It is quite urgent that we start booking flights, etc, so a rapid response would be appreciated (apologies it has taken me so long to get round to organising this).
