Dear Vik:

I went up to do some measurements today, and here is the result -- see the
attachment.

As you can see, the filter wheel is very close to the upper surface of the
grism barrel. There is only a 2mm free space, so 45mm is pretty much what
you can ask to Kaiser.

However note that the Golem team could fit their VPHGs into that space, so
it should be possible.
